Jimbocho – City of Books

Jimbocho is the area in central Tokyo where a large number of second-hand bookstores are located. It’s a great place to pick up memorabilia from the 50s, 60s and 70s such as Godzilla, Gamera and Mothra movie posters. There are also a large number of shops that sell English language books – some of them cheap paperbacks, some rare first copies that would interest wealthy book collectors or academics.

It’s a great place to chill out with a cappuccino while reading your recently acquired Penguin Classic.

Note to the owners; this is probably not a good name for a cafe.

This odd-looking building is the Kanda Movie Theater, and is situated between Jimbocho and Ochanomizu.
